NEW YEARS EVE - tar burning at ALLENDALE starts at 11.00 on Sunday 31st December in the evening untill 12.30 2009 why not let the New Year In!

Killhope Wheel - This is run by Durham County Council and is a national lead mining museum. Children are very welcome, its hands on. You can go underground and there is also a outdoor working museum. It is open from Easter through to November.

Weardale Museum - High House Chapel, Irishopeburn St Johns Chapel - Recently celebrated its 250 years. This is where John Wesley preached. This is also where they carry the census' for 1901.

Weardale Steam Railway - Open this year. Stanhope to Wolsingham. The views along the track which runs by the side of the River Wear are spectacular. Lots of birds and wild life to see.

Locomotion - The new national railway museum at Shildon. Free Entry. The Flying Scotsman comes from York at regular visits. 60 trains and wagons on site, a repair yard, cafe, shop... home of Timothy Hackworth.
