CORNRIGGS POLLED HEREFORDS 

Cornriggs farm is situated at 446 meter above sea level in the uplands of the North Pennines on wild flower hay meadows, which are SSSI. We use only natural feed for our cattle.

In the Summer months the cows go to graze on the fell allotment at 500 meters where the views are wonderful and the grass is lush.

We usually calf outside and it is not unusual to find a calf that's born in the morning up, and running around soon after it has been born. 

In 2003 we started our new herd - Our foundation stock came from the famous Romany Herd at Cowbog, Kelso.

With famous bulls such as Gleenlees Storm, Free Town Longfellow, Marathon and Maestro. Along with cows such as Mink, Jane, Dawn, and Plum.

We were very fortunate to buy a stock bull from The Greenyards Herd. Greenyards Ajax' brother went on to win bull of the year in 2006 Greenyard Archie.

Greenyards Ajax was sold in the summer of 2009 and  has gone to another herd in Northumberland,but we still have many calf's that he has sired.

Our new BULL arrived in December 2009 and we are pleased with him he seems to be kind natured  same as Ajax and we have high hopes that he will be as good a sire as Ajax.

Our Young Bull  Cornriggs 1 Maverick (P) which Harry Showed 2009 as a calf was placed every time out and was placed 4th at the National Calf Show in October 2009 and he is going to be showed in 2010

Corniggs 1 Jane 1st and Cornriggs 1 Blue Mink (P) are both in calf and have had a winning show season for the last two years.

Cornriggs 1 Wild Mink (P) has had a beautiful heifer calf on New Years Day 2010 to the sire      Otapawa High Voltage 3004 (Imp Sem) from New Zealand .Her first Calf  was to the sire Auckland Broadside (DH) and we are very pleased with her progress

Ajax has an excellent pedigree with Doonbiddie Hustler (Australia) as his sire and Leos Pride 1 Princess Elisia his dam. This herd has held numerous championship titles.

Harry Elliott is passionate about his Herefords and started showing in 2007 and now 2008 and has been very fortunate to be in the rosettes every time he has been to a show, we have some good strong heifers coming on to show in 2010 and also young bulls for sale. We showed her successfully last season and is very easy to handle.

 Cornriggs Wild Mink was first at Northumberland Show 2009.

Cornriggs Wild Mink is due to calf in December 2009 but she waitd until New Years Day 2010 her second calf to AI bull from New Zealand called Ottopwa High Energy. the calf has been named Cornriggs 1 Starlight  last years  heifer calf was to Auckvale Broadside and is named Cornriggs Wild Mink 2nd.

The Show Season 2009.

Harry Showed our young bull this year called Cornriggs Maverick ,he has been placed every time he has been to a show  1st Allendale /,2nd & 4th at Penrith /3rd at Westmorland County and at the National Calf Show at Carlisle Maverick was placed 4th in a very strong class,Harry is looking forward to showing him in 2010.

Cornriggs Blue Mink .one of our young heifers was placed 2nd Penrith/2nd Stanhope. she only had two outings this year and we are very pleased with her .

Cornriggs Jane .Had a winning season last year  and was only shown once and came 3rd in her class at Stanhope Show.
