Food at Low Cornriggs
Home cooked three course meals, including home made soups and fresh brown bread.

Game Pie or home reared Hereford beef, cooked in beer with homemade short crust pasty, served with seasonal vegetables.

Weardale lamb roasted in the oven with rosemary on a bed of root vegetables.

Wild Pheasants breasts cooked in red wine sauce with cranberries.

Hot puddings using fruits such as black currants picked from our own garden cooked in there own juices served with a crumble topping, served with organic fresh cream.

Many of our homemade sweets are made using seasonal fruits and to finish we offer organic free trade coffee.

Jan has been awarded the AA Pie award in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 ,2008 & 2009 in recognition of the superb evening meals she offers her guests. Most of our food is organic where possible, sourced local and taken from the farm. Everything is home cooked and Jan has completed a certificate of professional cookery course at a catering college.

This year 2010 one of the winners of The Taste of Durham Award for Local Produce and of coarse cooking it.

Breakfast Menu 
Breakfast is served from 8.00 to 8.45am

Your Breakfast will be cooked for you when you arrive and is served in the dining room during the Winter months and in the conservatory during the Summer.
We use our own Hens Eggs, home made brown or white Bread, Jan’s own Tea bread and Muffins, Rhubarb and Strawberry Jam along with our own Award Winning Marmalade.
Sausages are from the farm in Durham where the farmer keeps Pigs and Hereford Cattle.
Mild Cured Bacon and Black Pudding are from the Butchers in Hexham.
Cheese is English and the Smoked Salmon is from Scotland.

Breakfast Menu

Fresh Orange and Grapfruit Juice.
Fresh Fruit.
Porridge.
Yoghurts.
Selection of Cereals.

English Breakfast consistes of:
Mild Cured Bacon, Local Sausage, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Fried Bread and Fresh Eggs.

Eggs are served:
Fried, Scrambled, Poached and Boiled (One or two).

Smoked Salmon:
Served with a slice of brown toast and a freshly poached egg sitting on top.

Kippers:
Please order the night before.

Beans or fried Tomatoes on toast.

Mushrooms:
Lightly cooked and served on slice of homemade brown toast. 

Omelettes:
Cheese, Plain or Mushroom.

Fresh Toast:
Brown or White with Jam and Marmalade.

Home Made Tea Bread

Tea.
Fresh Ground Coffee.
Water.
Hot Water.
Fruit.
Decaf Tea or Coffee.
