Craft Courses with Short breaks what we have to offer.

 

SORRY WE ARE NOT DOING CRAFTS THIS YEAR 2014

Starting to spin.

An introduction to the craft of spinning. The day will include: Preparing fibre for spinning, an introduction to spinning on a drop spindle and starting to spin on a wheel including setting up the wheel and producing your first yarn.

Equipment requirements: If you have a wheel or fibre you wish to spin, please bring to the workshop. If you require the use of a spinning wheel, please let us know when you book your course.

The course will run from 10am to 4pm.

Cost per day  including lunch,  including Bed & Breakfast and Evening Meal. Small charge for materials.

 

Starting to knit.

A basic introduction to knitting. The day will include: an introduction to needles and yarn, casting on and casting off, the basic stitches, increasing and decreasing stitches and the importance of tension. You will be able to start a small project to complete at your leisure.

Equipment requirement: Needles and yarn will be available to use, but you are welcome to bring your own.

The course will start at 10am until 4pm.

The cost for the day is including lunch,  including Bed & Breakfast and Evening Meal. A small charge for materials.

 

 Patchwork Knitting 

Do you love patchwork quilt designs but prefer to knit? Why not learn to use patchwork designs to produce knitted items. The day will include: Mitred square designs, using triangles in the design, knitting hexagons, log cabin designs.

Equipment requirements: Needles and yarn will be available to use, but you are welcome to bring your own.

The course will run from 10am to 4pm.  

Cost per day  including lunch, including Bed & Breakfast and Evening Meal.Small charge for materials.

 

Sock Knitting

Have you always wanted to knit a pair of socks to show off to your friends? This is a chance to learn the basic techniques of top down sock construction. The day will include: constructing a sock using double-pointed needles or 2 circular needles, stretchy cast on techniques, turning the heel - heel flap, heel turn and gussett shaping, toe shaping, the use of kitchener stitch for a seamless join at the toe and fitting the sock for your feet. The workshop will include practising the above techniques as a sample. A pattern and yarn will be provided to practice the techniques to construct a pair of socks after the workshop.

 The workshop will run between 10am to 4pm.

Equipment requirement: Needles and yarn will be available to use, but you are welcom to bring your own.

Cost per day  including lunch,  including Bed & Breakfast and Evening Meal. Charge for materials for sock yarn. 

 

An Introduction to Patchwork

The introduction will include: Using rotary cutting equipment, cutting strips of fabric, squares and triangles, making a patchwork block design using a sewing machine, suitable for a cushion or bag, instructions on how to complete your project.

Equipment requirements: Sewing machines, fabric, thread and rotary cutting equipment will be available on the day. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine, fabric and sewing equipment. If you require the use of a sewing machine, please let us know when you book.

The course will start at 10am to 4pm.

Cost per day is  including lunch,  including Bed & Breakfast and Evening Meal. Small material charge for fabric.

 Applique workshop 

An introduction to the different techniques available to produce applique designs. This will include hand and machine techniques. The course will include: drafting the design on fabric, needle turn applique, hand applique using freezer paper, machine applique using freezer paper, fusible applique using satin stitch, A pattern will be provided to make an applique panel suitable for a cushion or bag.

Equipment requirements: Sewing machines, fabric, threads and rotary cutting equipment will be available. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine, fabric and sewing equipment. if you require the use of a sewing machine, please let us know when you book the workshop.

The day will start at 10am to 4pm.

Cost per day  including lunch, Bed & Breakfast and Evening Meal.
